What is stored in your browser, what is sent to other companies, and how to change your mind.
Always on (needed for the site to work)
- Session and security cookies (set by this site): keep forms working and protect them against forgery. They are not used for advertising.
- Your cookie choice (stored in your browser's local storage as
cde_consent, with the time you chose): remembers whether you accepted or declined.
Only after you accept
- Google Analytics (cookies such as
_ga): counts visits and shows which pages are popular. Data goes to Google.
None of these load, and none of their cookies are set, until you press Accept in the banner. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat it as Decline.
Other companies your browser contacts
- Google Fonts and CDN libraries load when a page opens, so those hosts see your IP address.
- Google reCAPTCHA runs on the contact form to stop spam.
- Amazon when you follow a link to a product: Amazon sets its own cookies on its own site, and we earn a commission if you buy (see the Affiliate Disclosure).
- YouTube / Vimeo if an article embeds a video and you press play.
Change your choice
Use Cookie settings here or in the footer at any time. Declining after you accepted deletes the analytics and advertising cookies and reloads the page. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.
